What is agoraphobia?
Agoraphobia results from anxiety and leads to avoidance of situations where that anxiety occurs. For example, you may find it hard to leave the house, use public transport or wait in line at the supermarket.
If you suffer from agoraphobia, you feel safer spending time with someone you know really well. You show both physical and psychological symptoms of anxiety in situations that you would prefer to avoid.
Agoraphobia can be treated effectively with medication and cognitive behavioural therapy.
