Parkinson's disease
Parkinson's disease affects the brain and is seen most commonly in the elderly. It results in:
- Tremor
- Stiff muscles
- Difficulty moving and slowed movement
- Psychological symptoms, particularly depression and anxiety
Some studies show that up to 70% of patients with Parkinson's disease will suffer from depression. The symptoms of Parkinson's disease are not unlike those of depression and it is therefore important that you are aware that both sets of symptoms can be present at the same time.
