Are you well?
Back to normal?
When treated with an antidepressant, symptoms of your depression may decrease over a period of six to eight weeks. Once you start your maintenance period, family and friends who didn't see you during your illness probably will not notice any differences.
Consider yourself back to normal when:
- You are your old self
- Your old characteristics and behaviour return
- You are the same loving partner and/or parent again
- You are the same good neighbour and valued colleague
Although some of the "stubborn" symptoms can take a little longer to disappear completely depression is otherwise characterized by the fact that you return to your "normal condition" and that you don't suffer any lasting damage.
You function completely on the same physical, mental and intellectual level, as before you were ill.
